Founded by Rüştü Akın and Haydar Akın brothers in 1956, Akın Tekstil has been playing a major role in the development of the Turkish Textile Industry for many years. 81% of the Company is owned by Akın Holding, Haydar Akın Holding and Akın Family and 19 % of the shares are publicly traded in the Istanbul Stock Exchange. The mission of Akın Tekstil in conducting its operations in the two factories, located in Istanbul and Lüleburgaz, is:
Manufacturing of goods in high quality standards with its enterprising, engaging, innovative and creative structure, by working in unity and cooperation on the basis of the principles of honesty and customer satisfaction, and contributing a portion of the profits generated to services dedicated to the well-being of the society.
Akın Tekstil enriches its fabric collections constantly as a result of design and R&D activities. The range of fabrics of Akın Tekstil are as follows: 100%COTTON, POLYESTER/COTTON, POLYESTER/VISCONSE, COTTON/POLYAMIDE, COTTON/TACTEL, TENCEL, and LINEN.
85% of the fabrics, which are marketed as piece dyed, fibre dyed or yarn dyed, in addition to elasthane fibre containing alternatives, are exported directly to leading fabric brands of Western Europe and the USA or to their suppliers in various countries. The fabric capacity of the Company is 2 million meters per month. Fabrics are manufactured in the Lüleburgaz factory, which has a 380,000 m2 outdoor and 110,000 m2 indoor area, and which generates its own power by means of the co-generation facilities.
Akın Tekstil has become a specialist in trousers manufactured in its Istanbul garment factory operating since 1986. Its capacity of trousers is 500,000 pieces per month. The garment factory that exports 95% of the total production has a special place in the textile industry with its quality and service.
Both factories of Akın Tekstil have been accredited by Bureau Veritas Quality International with the ISO 9001 certificate since 1998. The Company was also awarded the ECO-TEX 100 certificate by the Hohenstein Institute in 1998. Akın Tekstil is ready for the textile world of tomorrow with its state-of-the-art technology in the new yarn factory, which started operations in 2004.
As a result of its continually improving performance, Akın Tekstil keeps-up with the trends of the day and provides its customers with numerous finishing options.
